Rocky and I had a good workout this morning. He ran a few laps with me before getting distracted and doing some wandering while I pushed the sled. I decided not to push him to do more, and instead gave him some freedom to roam nearby within my sight.
I’ve found that these sessions are not all about fitness and managing his energy needs. It’s also good for training and bonding. Some of the learning moments are huge, such as sticking close to me and staying within boundaries even while he is off-leash. Others are small, like learning to drink from a travel water bowl.
Rocky just seems to enjoy being outside and spending time with me, whether he is running alongside me, taking a rest break or exploring nearby. And I love having him with me and knowing that this new routine is great for both of us.
