Spring Training
After a long winter season, I’m so happy to get back to regular sled workouts in my outdoor gym. The weather this week is perfect with sunny skies and temperatures in the 70’s.

Snowshoeing turns my daily walk into something a bit more challenging and fun. It’s also great way to shake off the winter doldrums that come with living in a place with a long winter season.
I was really enjoying my time with Rocky when he was an only dog. We did everything together, including my workouts. Now that Ringo has joined us, I’m back to solo workouts.
I love having Rocky as a workout partner! We had a great workout today and I got some fun photos of Rocky with the sled. 😀
I wasn’t planning on pushing this load today, but it was one of the those “oh what the hell” moments. I was at the end of a heavy workout and actually done with my sets. But I knew I had more in me, and I knew I could go a little bit heavier too…
The sled came at a time when I was hungry for change. I needed something to zap that lingering sense of limbo created by a pandemic that never officially ended and a long winter that also seemed never-ending.
Whispers of fall can already be heard here in Michigan. We’ve had some cooler days and leaves are dropping to the ground. Other changes are brewing for me as well, as Charlie is clearly in his final chapter of life. With these looming changes, I tried something new with Rocky today…
I had gorgeous weather this morning for my sled workout – 52 degrees and sunny. A little cool for August but a welcome break from the heat and humidity.
It was pouring down rain today, which makes the sled harder to push. The wet ground creates more resistance and also makes foot traction more difficult. It kicked my ass but was so much fun! ❤️
Rocky and I had a good workout this morning. I’ve found that these sessions are not all about fitness and managing his energy needs. It’s also good for training and bonding.
Now that my outdoor gym is set up, I decided to have Rocky join me for part of my workout so he could burn off some energy. I had no idea how he would react but he is having a blast!
